Kiama MP Gareth Ward has launched his 10th Christmas toy drive to help spread some festive joy to those who need it most.
All donations will go to the Albion Park Youth and Community Care Inc which helps support families and children through a variety of programs.
“Christmas is a time of celebration and relaxing with our loved ones. Sadly, there are still some local children and young people facing disadvantage at this special time of year,” Mr Ward said.
“For the past 10 years, my annual Christmas toy drive has always been about bringing people together regardless of their postcode to help spread some Christmas joy to hundreds of disadvantaged children and young people across our region.”
Albion Park Youth And Community Care Inc, based at Albion Park Rail Community Centre in Russell Street, delivers needs-based programs and services for people of all ages.
It holds a breakfast club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, a youth drop-in on Mondays, technology lessons, social support and help with child, youth and family support, financial and emergency assistance.
It was initially known as Shellharbour Youth Activities Service when it started more than 30 years ago.
“Over the past several years, the Kiama electorate office has been overwhelmed by the generosity of local residents and small businesses who have kindly donated a wide variety of toys and gifts, and I really hope that it can continue this Christmas,” Mr Ward said.
“Let’s keep the Christmas spirit of giving alive and come together to help spread some festive joy to those who need it most this Christmas.”
New and unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Mr Ward’s electorate office, 102 Terralong Street, Kiama, until 5 pm on Tuesday 17 December.
