UPDATED 3:20 pm April 9: Police believe they have found the body of a missing bushwalker near Belmore Falls.
A NSW Police spokesperson said about 11:30 am police divers who were part of the search for the missing bushwalker found the body of a woman.
“Whilst the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing bushwalker,” the police spokesperson said.
“A report will be prepared for the coroner.”
9 am April 9: NSW Police announced this morning they will resume a search for a woman who went missing while bushwalking at Belmore Falls.
There has been no sign of the woman since Sunday (7 April).
“Just after 1 pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Belmore Falls near Robertson, following reports a woman had slipped and fallen down a cliff,” the spokesperson said.
“An extensive search was initiated involving officers attached to The Hume Police District, NSW Police rescue, NSW Ambulance rescue, State Emergency Service (SES), National Parks and Wildlife Service, PolAir and the TOLL Rescue Helicopter; however, the 20-year-old woman was not located, and the search was suspended at dusk, due to low light.
“The multi-agency water and land-based search, resumed at about 8 am Monday (8 April), with police divers attending to assist.
“A command post has been established at the Belmore Falls Lookout car park off Belmore Falls Road and the search will resume about 8 am today (9 April).”
