Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter!
Dog of the week: Destiny
Meet Destiny!
Destiny is a sweet, energetic 11-month-old Staffy cross looking for her new home!
Destiny would suit a quieter home with experienced owners where she can become part of the family.
She enjoys her daily walks as well as daily snuggle time on the couch – but by your side is Destiny’s favourite place to be!
Destiny is a confident girl who doesn’t mind being left alone. As long as she has some fun toys, fresh water and a sheltered, comfy bed, she will be safe and happy until you get home. As she is still young, enrichment toys and a puzzle feeder will help her learn and be the brightest pup she can be!
Destiny can be a little unsure around other dogs, so if you have another dog at home, please bring them in to meet her to make sure they will be friends.
Dog parks or off-leash areas are a bit frightening for Destiny as she needs a little bit of space to figure out her four-legged companions and build her confidence before becoming friends.
Destiny is a smart girl and does well with training.
As she is still a pup, Destiny will need an owner who is happy to spend time with her practising her cues and tricks and continuing her positive reinforcement training.
Destiny can sometimes get a bit overwhelmed navigating this big new world, so a home with dog-confident children who are a little older would be ideal for her.
Cat of the week: Chai
Meet Chai!
When it comes to Chai, there’s a latte-to love!
Chai is a shy girl with a heart as soft as her fur.
She was very timid when she arrived in care as a stray and it took a little while for her to settle in.
She would be best suited to a quiet home where she can navigate her new surroundings without too much hustle and bustle.
Loud noises and sudden movements can startle her, so she would thrive in a serene environment where she can feel safe and secure and have somewhere she can retreat to when needed.
As you can tell, Chai takes great pride in her appearance.
Regular grooming sessions are a must to keep her beautiful coat healthy and looking its best. Grooming is an excellent way to bond and Chai will undoubtedly appreciate your efforts in maintaining her elegant appearance.
Although Chai may appear reserved at first, with some patience and understanding, she will come out of her shell and reveal her affectionate side.
This regal girl will let you know when she wants some attention on her own terms and is most comfortable with all four paws on the ground.
Last week’s pets of the week, Akka and Christopher are still on the hunt for their new homes.
