Police charge man over Barrack Heights assault with a knife

A man was to appear in court today (Monday 12 August) after being charged following the assault of another man inside a Barrack Heights home.

A NSW Police spokesperson said about 12 pm on Sunday 28 July 2024, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were called to a premise on Lake Entrance Road, Barrack Heights, following reports a 27-year-old man had been assaulted.

“Following inquiries, shortly before 11 am on Monday 12 August 2024, a 20-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop in North Warrawong,” the police spokesperson said.

“He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent to inflict actual bodily harm, use an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk or intimidate and use a carriage service to menace or harass.

“The man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court.

“Police will allege in court the 20-year-old man punched the other man multiple times and brandished a 30cm knife.”
