Police work to identify motorbike rider killed in M1 crash

Police have corrected their earlier descriptions of two people involved in a horror crash on the M1 on Sunday (10 November).

At about 11 am, police were called to the accident involving two cars and a motorcycle, which closed the northbound lanes. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the rider, but he died at the scene.

The driver of one of the cars involved, an SUV, was previously reported by police to be a 24-year-old woman; police now say the driver was a 24-year-old man.

Police say the victim was a 66-year-old man, but formal identification is ongoing.

Police say two passengers in the SUV, a 52-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man, were not injured.

Police want to speak with the driver of a Silver Ford ute, who may be able to assist with inquiries. The ute was last seen travelling north on the M1 at West Wollongong at about 11 am on Sunday (10 November).

An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
