Northbound lanes of the M1 are closed after a man was hit by a truck shortly before 1 pm today (Friday 10 January).
A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the Cataract location, about two kilometres from Picton Road about 12:45 pm.
“NSW Ambulance responded but the man died at the scene,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“Officers attached to Wollongong Police District responded and established a crime scene, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.
“The M1 Princes Motorway is closed northbound at Cataract, with motorists urged to use the Hume Motorway.”
All vehicles can use Picton Road, while light vehicles can also use Memorial Drive, the Princes Highway and Bulli Pass to access the M1 Motorway.
Ongoing police investigations are expected to take some time.
