Guns, drugs and a Louis Vuitton ballistics vest were found in a Port Kembla home after a traffic stop sparked a police raid.
As a result, a 38-year-old man man has been charged with 13 offences, including firearm and drug counts.
A NSW Police spokesperson said officers attached to the Southern Region Enforcement Squad stopped a car in Kelly Street, Berkeley, about 5:15 pm on Thursday, 9 January.
“Police searched the car and seized a firearm,” the spokesperson said.
“A 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
“A short time later, police executed a search warrant at a home in Wentworth Street, Port Kembla.
“Police seized three firearms, a ballistic vest, firearms ammunition and drugs.”
The man was charged with offences including aggravated enter dwelling, armed and with intent, using an offensive weapon with the intent to commit an indictable offence, stalking and intimidation, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, possessing more than three unregistered firearms without a licence or permit, two counts of possessing ammunition without holding a licence or permit, possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit, two counts of supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug and recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime worth less than $5000.
The man appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Friday, 10 January, when he was formally refused bail to reappear in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday, 12 March.
