Police are asking for information to identify a third person who may be able to assist with inquiries, following the alleged murder of a man near Shellharbour on Tuesday (28 January).

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District commenced an investigation under Strike Force Feods, with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, after emergency services were called to Saturn Crescent, Dunmore, about 3 pm, where a 25-year-old man was found critically injured.

A NSW Police spokesperson said NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man for a stab wound to his abdomen; however, he died at the scene.

“Initial investigations revealed the man had allegedly been stabbed while being assaulted by a number of people who then drove from the scene in an Isuzu MU-X after the incident,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.

“The vehicle was later recovered in Albion Park Rail and seized for forensic examination.
