A man has been charged after a threatening phone call was allegedly made to a hospital yesterday.
A NSW Police spokesperson said police were called to the hospital on Loftus Street, Wollongong, at about 6:50 pm on Saturday (1 January), after a threat was made by phone.
“Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and conducted a search of the building, with nothing found,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“Following inquiries, police attended a home on Northcliffe Drive, Port Kembla, and arrested a 53-year-old man.
“It is alleged during the arrest, the man spat at police.
“The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with using a carriage service to make a hoax threat and assaulting police officers in the execution of their duty.”
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 18 March 2025.
