Police officer busted for alleged high-range DUI

An off-duty police officer has been charged with high-range drink-driving after a crash in Bellambi last week.

A NSW Police spokesperson said that at about 8:15 pm on Tuesday 4 February, police were called to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Memorial Drive at Bellambi.

“Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and spoke to the driver – a 50-year-old woman – who was uninjured,” the NSW Police spokepserson said.

“She was subject to a roadside breath test, returning a positive result.

“The woman – who is a sergeant attached to a Southern Region command – was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where she was subject to a breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.196.

“Her driver’s licence was immediately suspended.

“The woman was served with a future court attendance notice today (Tuesday 11 February 2025) for drive with high-range PCA.

“She is due to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 18 March 2025.

“The officer’s employment status is under review.”

It is understood no one was hurt in the crash.
