Three teens arrested after allegedly stolen car crashes into SUV

Three teenagers will face court after a stolen car allegedly smashed into an SUV on Mount Brown Road, Dapto.

A NSW Police spokesperson said officers were patrolling Huntley Road near the intersection with the Princes Highway in Dapto on Tuesday (1 April) around 8:50 am when they spotted the allegedly stolen car.

Officers turned right onto Mount Brown Road and activated their warning lights, signalling for the car to pull over.

Police say the car accelerated toward Burke Road and allegedly collided with an SUV.

“A pursuit was not initiated,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.

“Officers got out of their vehicle and arrested a 15-year-old male driver and two female passengers, aged 12 and 13.

“The trio were taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.”

The 15-year-old driver was charged with breach of bail, taking and driving a conveyance without the consent of its owner, driving recklessly, furiously or in a speed or dangerous manner, driving unlicensed having never held a license and not giving way to a vehicle at a T-intersection.

He was refused bail and will appear in a children’s court today (2 April).

The 12-year-old girl was charged with stealing property from a dwelling-house and being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of its owner.

She was granted bail to appear in a children’s court on Tuesday 15 April 2025.

The 13-year-old girl was charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of its owner.

She was granted conditional bail to appear in a children’s court on Tuesday 15 April 2025.

“Police will allege the car was stolen from a Berkeley home, known to the 12-year-old girl,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
