Stockland Shellharbour shoppers can now power up while they pick up the groceries, thanks to the launch of 10 new ultra-fast EV charging bays, the first of many under a new national partnership between Stockland and Ampol.

Located near Woolworths, off Lake Entrance Road and opposite the bus stop and taxi rank, the ultra-fast charging bays are now available for customers, retailers and the broader Shellharbour and Illawarra community to use.

Stockland Senior Centre Manager Dean Young said by making everyday life easier, this future-focused milestone supported Stockland Shellharbour’s role as a key destination in the region.

“Stockland Shellharbour is proud to be the first Stockland town centre to offer Ampol’s AmpCharge EV charging under our strategic partnership with Ampol,” he said.

“Our community now has access to convenient, reliable and fast charging infrastructure, meaning people can fully charge their car in the time it takes to do the weekly grocery shop, pick up the dry cleaning and have a coffee.”

Ampol Energy Value Chain general manager Patrick Luxton said the rollout was part of Ampol’s broader push to support Australians through the energy transition.

“Our at-destination alliances continue to complement Ampol’s AmpCharge EV charging network capabilities, enabling customers to charge on the go at more convenient locations beyond the forecourt,” he said.

“This strategic partnership is important for the ongoing rollout of our EV charging infrastructure and we’re pleased to see AmpCharge go live for the first time at one of Stockland’s key shopping destinations in Shellharbour.”

The Shellharbour launch is the first of many planned installations across Stockland centres nationally, in line with the group’s broader sustainability strategy, which focuses on innovation, scale and “delivering real-world solutions that support customers’ transition to a low-carbon future”.

More than 100,000 EVs were sold in Australia in 2024 alone – a new annual record.

“Stockland is committed to making charging simple and accessible wherever people live, work, shop or socialise,” Mr Young said.
