NSW Police have taken a woman into custody after a police pursuit in the Lake Illawarra region.
A spokesperson for NSW Police said that shortly before 9 am on Tuesday (12 August) police were called to a school on Fairwater Drive, Horsley.
The call was due to concerns of a potential domestic violence-related incident.
“Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District attended and attempted to speak with a woman, who was in the driver’s seat of a car,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“As the woman drove away, a male constable suffered a minor injury to his arm when he attempted to stop the driver,” the spokesperson alleged.
“The vehicle was sighted a short time later on the Princes Highway, Unanderra; however, when the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
“The vehicle continued to travel west along the Princes Highway and travelled through local streets before stopping on Albert Street, Unanderra.”
The driver – a 37-year-old woman – was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where she is assisting with inquiries.
