A man has been arrested and prescription medication seized after he allegedly broke into four premises in Wollongong’s northern suburbs.
At about 4:25 am on Tuesday (25 July), the man allegedly broke into a pharmacy on the Princes Hwy at Woonona, taking a large amount of prescription medication. The same pharmacy was allegedly broken into again at about 4:15 am on Saturday (29 July), with more medication stolen.
A third alleged break and enter occurred at a pharmacy on King St, Thirroul, at about 4:40 am on Sunday (30 July), and a fourth at a medical practice on Park Rd, Woonona, at about 5:25 am on Tuesday (1 August).
At about 1:15 pm on Tuesday (1 August), a 31-year-old man was arrested for an unrelated matter and taken to Wollongong Police Station.
Following inquiries while the man was in custody, police executed a search warrant at a unit on Popes Rd, Woonona, allegedly seizing more than 200 packets of prescription medication and various vaccines.
The 31-year-old man was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal, three counts of break, enter and steal, possessing a restricted substance, and two counts of driving while disqualified.
He appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday (2 August) and was refused bail to reappear again on 7 August.
