Step inside the world of award-winning filmmaker and storyteller Phillip Crawford, whose career has been devoted to bringing community voices to the screen in unexpected and powerful ways.
Over 35 years, Phillip has worked alongside people often left out of the spotlight, turning their experiences into films that have screened at international festivals on ABC, SBS, Channel 4 UK and Arte.
At Warrawong Library, Phillip will share how he collaborates with communities to create stories that matter, including his latest project, the Real Made Up Stories podcast. It’s first episode, The Mystery of Mission Lagoon, was inspired by the history and strength of cultural pride of our local Coomaditchie Mission community. With Scooby-Doo style fun and local flavour, it’s a fierce, funny tale of kids who refuse to be pushed off their land.
Come along to hear Phillip talk about his unique approach to community storytelling, and why local voices matter.
You can listen to Real Made Up Stories on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Free, bookings are essential via Eventbrite.
