Jamberoo Mountain Road will be closed for three days from Monday 13 October for emergency repairs.

Kiama Council advises the road will be closed to all traffic between Misty Lane and Barren Grounds, from 9 am to 4 pm, until Wednesday 15 October.

The road will remain open to traffic outside of working hours.

Motorists can use alternative routes including Macquarie Pass, Kangaroo Valley and Picton Road during the closure.

Council said the essential works were part of ongoing improvements aimed at restoring and strengthening infrastructure impacted by recent severe weather.

The key transport connection between Kiama and Robertson was closed for almost a year after severe weather caused dangerous landslips in 2022.

Meanwhile, work is continuing on Macquarie Pass which is closed at night until February 2026.

The Illawarra Highway is closed between Tongarra Mine and Mount Murray roads from 8 pm to 4 am, Sunday to Thursday nights.

The work includes slope stabilisation and the installation of wider lanes and new safety barriers on key sections of the pass, which is used by about 4000 vehicles daily.

The first stage of the project will focus on a 200 m stretch near the top hairpin bends, a section prone to landslips and weather damage.
