An international sporting event will put Wollongong on the world stage this week as thousands of athletes and supporters line the streets for the World Triathlon Championship Finals.
But events of this scale can be a logistical challenge, particularly as both residents and visitors navigate road closures and clearways at different times throughout the week.
To help you plan, here are details of the streets to be impacted.
BY AREA
The course route along the coastline will shut down the main stretch for the safety of competitors, but the roads surrounding the event will also be affected.
This includes residential areas around Wollongong’s harbour district, North Wollongong Beach and lagoon, Puckeys Estate, Dalton Park, and Fairy Meadow.
Some impacts stretch as far as Corrimal and Bellambi.
Residents should have been notified about access if they live in a street that will be impacted.
The Wollongong Triathlon has created an interactive map on its website to help people navigate where and when road closures will take place.
A broader map by area, which doesn’t include all street names but has some key points of reference, has also been provided.
