Meet our loveable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes while in care with Wollongong Pet Connection.
Dog of the week: Narla
Meet Narla!
This one-year-old kelpie-boxer cross is a loving girl with a sensitive soul.
Narla’s foster carers say she has come a long way, and with the right family, she’s sure to continue blossoming into the confident, loyal companion she’s meant to be.
Narla loves to be close to her people, and is the queen of cuddles on the couch and snuggles in bed.
Soft and sweet, like most boxers, Narla responds best to calm voices and gentle encouragement.
She is deeply intuitive and forms strong bonds with her humans.
She walks beautifully on lead and doesn’t pull. She enjoys sniffing and exploring at her own pace, especially during the first part of her walk.
Narla is still cautious around new people, especially men, other dogs and loud or sudden noises. Her flight response can be strong, so she’s walked with both a collar and harness for safety.
Resilient and brave, her confidence is improving every day with patience and consistency.
Narla is a clever girl who is learning commands like sit, come, heel, shake, and to wait for her meals.
She loves playing fetch with a rubber ball and will “give” the ball back when she’s ready for another throw.
She’s a gentle, soulful companion who just wants to love and be loved.
She’s incredibly affectionate and once she trusts you, she’ll be your sunshine buddy, your couch snuggler, and your biggest fan!
If you think you can offer Narla the love, patience, and security she needs, please reach out. She’s ready to start her next chapter – and she might just be the missing piece in your heart.

As you might be able to tell from his dapper black-and-white suit, Haku is a cat of many talents. Photo: Wollongong City Council.
Cat of the week: Haku
Meet Haku!
This sweet two-year-old domestic short-hair has a heart as soft as his fur.
He’s a gentle soul who’s learning to trust and love, and he’s looking for a calm, nurturing home.
Haku’s foster carers say he’s an easy-going superstar who could be the beating heart of his new family.
A litter box pro, Haku nailed it from day one. He’s not fussy about his food and has a great appetite.
Even though he was shy for the first couple of days, he has shown no signs of aggression such as hissing, scratching or swatting.
By his first weekend in foster care he was exploring and accepting gentle pats.
Now he loves to watch TV and enjoys being brushed so much he will meow for more!
Haku is also an expert-level biscuit maker.
If your home is calm, cozy, and full of heart, Haku might just be the missing piece. Come meet this lovely boy and help him continue his journey from shy to shining.
