Crystal lovers, rejoice — the beloved Crystal Fest returns with a new name, Gemtopia, but the same vibrant, high-energy atmosphere fans know and love. A much-loved Illawarra tradition returns this December as the Illawarra Choral Society presents Handel’s Messiah. Featuring the soaring Hallelujah Chorus and moments of powerful reflection, this annual performance brings together choir, soloists and full orchestra, joined by the historic Ronald Sharp pipe organ, crafted by the same renowned builder behind the Sydney Opera House organ.
This year’s soloists include Hannah Burton (soprano), Elizabeth Cooper (alto), Daniel Verschuer (tenor) and Matthew Avery (bass), with musical director Carlos Alvarado at the podium.

Join the eighth annual Walk for Sheree, a fundraising event in memory of Sheree Naylor, lovingly organised by her parents David and Margot. Choose a leisurely 3 km, 5 km, or 10 km route to walk in memory of Sheree or dedicate your walk to someone close to you affected by cancer.
The event is a meaningful way to connect, reflect, and support cancer awareness. After the walk, participants are invited to gather for lunch at the Towradgi Bowling Club.

The museum is turning into a magical Christmas Wonderland for a festive family day out. Kids can meet Santa and Mrs Claus and snap a photo to take home, while the whole family enjoys train rides all day. Pack a picnic or grab some snags, ice creams and a cuppa. There’s also a playground to run off energy, and tours of the museum itself, which is packed with locomotives with fascinating stories.

Friends of Industry is gathering local business leaders for its annual Christmas event in support of The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal. This year, attendees are encouraged to donate items for families in need, with a special focus on gift cards for teenagers, a group The Salvation Army has identified as facing particular hardship during the festive season.
