Lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place on Picton Road while investigation work is carried out on design options for its eventual upgrade.

Work will start on Monday 24 November and continue Sundays to Thursdays, between 8 pm and 5 am, until Thursday 18 December.

The geotechnical and pavement investigations between Almond Street, Wilton and the M1 Princes Motorway will help with the development of design options for the upgrade.

The work will include establishing temporary work sites, surveying and onsite mapping, excavator work to profile the road pavement and ground conditions and borehole drilling.

Investigation work may also be carried out on side roads and in rest areas.

Access to rest areas will be maintained, but capacity may be reduced.

During work, a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h and intermittent stop/slow traffic control conditions will be in place.

Some parts of Picton Road will be reduced to a single lane for both directions of traffic, with traffic control in place.

Motorists are advised to allow up to 10 minutes’ additional travel time.

During this time, work will also be carried out Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 5 pm, with minimal traffic impacts.

Meanwhile, traffic will also be impacted on Bulli Pass on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 November when it’s closed for night maintenance work (weather permitting).

The Pass will be closed to traffic between Lawrence Hargrave Drive and the M1 Princes Motorway from 8 pm to 4 am to allow for road repairs and resurfacing, maintenance of signs, vegetation and safety barriers, clearing gutters and drains and litter collection.

Detours will be in place via either Lawrence Hargrave Drive or the M1 Princes Motorway and Memorial Drive.

Motorists should allow an additional 20 minutes’ travel time.
