Figtree’s Koen Andrews might only be seven years old, but he hasn’t met a problem too big to take a crack at – even his cousin Hudson’s brain cancer diagnosis.

Hudson Doak is just over a year old and has already had four brain surgeries and several rounds of chemotherapy.

The Doak family, from Nowra, have had their lives uprooted as they fight for Hudson’s life at the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Big cousin Koen saw the toll the disease has taken on his family, and decided to help.

This Saturday he’ll be holding a lemonade stand at Figtree Football Club to raise money for the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

An experienced entrepreneur, Koen said meticulous planning went into his fundraiser.

“I felt like my last lemonade stand could use some improvement, so I’ve planned this one in a bit more public spot so I get more customers,” he said.

“I want to raise money for the hospital because they’ve done a good job for Hudson, and so they can have a bit more equipment so Huddy can get out quicker.”

Koen said he hoped to raise $40,000.

Koen’s mum, Ashleigh, said she was proud of her boy’s big heart.

She started a GoFundMe page for her sister’s family shortly after Hudson’s first operation in September 2025.

“Our world was shattered when Hudson was diagnosed with a brain tumour,” she said.

“Between ongoing hospital stays, specialist care, six to nine months of chemotherapy, medications, and follow-up treatments, the emotional and financial burden on his family is overwhelming.

“We want to take some of the financial burden off them, but the lemonade stand was all Koey’s idea.

“I’m really proud of him.”
