Bellambi man charged over alleged hydro house

A man has been charged following the discovery of an alleged hydroponic set up in a property in Bellambi.

A NSW Police spokesperson said about 1:50 pm on Thursday 17 October officers attached to Wollongong Police District executed a search warrant at a home in Bellambi and established a crime scene.

“During the search of the home, officers allegedly found a sophisticated hydroponic set up across four rooms,” the police spokesperson said.

“Police seized 19 plants and equipment consistent with the cultivation of cannabis.

“A 56-year-old man was arrested at the scene and conveyed to Wollongong Police Station.

“He was charged with cultivate prohibited plant and possess prohibited drug.”

The man was given strict conditional bail and will next appear in Wollongong Local Court on 3 December 2024.
