Police are appealing for help from the public after a child was runover by a utility at Nowra on Monday 24 April.
Officers from South Coast Police District have been told a 12-year-old boy was lying on McKay Street with his bicycle about 6:30 pm when a vehicle travelling east drove over him and failed to stop.
Emergency services were called to the scene and rendered assistance until he was initially taken to Albion Park by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to a Sydney hospital.
Police have been told the child has suffered serious injuries including fractures to the legs, pelvis and chest.
The Southern Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene and are conducting the investigation.
The vehicle involved is described an older model light-coloured dual-cab utility (no canopy). Investigators are still waiting to speak with the boy as it is unknown how he came to be lying on the road.
Police have been told the boy was seen riding along the road a short time before he was found injured.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident or who has dashcam vision they believe could assist investigators, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
