A section of Calderwood Road will be closed for up to five months to allow for the first stage of upgrading works.
The work will include road upgrades and widening, construction of a new shared walking and cycling path, stormwater drainage improvements, utility relocations, earthworks and retaining walls and landscaping.
Although the section of work is between Schoolmaster Road and Livestock Way, Calderwood Road will be closed to through traffic from Monday 28 September to 2 February 2027, with detour routes via Escarpment Drive and the Illawarra Highway.
According to developer Stockland, the Calderwood Road upgrade is a key infrastructure project that will support the delivery of The Fields precinct and the continued growth of the Calderwood community.
“The upgrade will improve road safety, traffic capacity and network connectivity along Calderwood Road, while providing infrastructure required to support future homes,” the Stockland website said.
“Traffic management measures will be implemented to maintain safe movement through the area and minimise disruption wherever possible.
“Updated bus timetables and transport information will be communicated by the relevant transport authorities prior to the commencement of the works and road closures.”
Standard construction hours will be 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. No work is planned for Sundays and public holidays.
