The Illawarra community will meet the team behind Calderwood’s newest public primary school and preschool, learn more about the project and have their questions answered at an information session to be held this Monday (11 August).

The public are encouraged to attend the drop-in session at Tullimbar Public School library for the latest designs and details about the school which is set to welcome students in 2028.

Planning is underway for the new facility to help meet the needs of the growing population, with the school to include modern classrooms, including facilities for specialist support classes, a covered outdoor learning area, a multipurpose hall and canteen, library, administration facilities and onsite staff parking, as well as a public preschool with 60 places.

It is also expected to have access to sport fields set to be constructed on adjacent land.

The school and preschool will be located on the corner of Calderwood Road and Escarpment Drive in Calderwood, not far from Calderwood Christian School.

It is part of the a $2.1 billion investment by the State Government announced in this year’s budget as part of a plan to ‘rebuild public education’ with $1.4 billion of that for new and upgraded schools in regional NSW.

Development and designs for the project are being finalised, with construction to begin in 2026.

The information session will run from 3 to 6 pm on Monday 11 August, with attendees asked to register ahead of time to ensure their questions are heard.

Designs will be shared with the community following the information session via the project’s webpage.
