Corrimal man charged over alleged armed robbery

A man has been arrested after an alleged armed robbery in Corrimal on Tuesday.

A NSW Police spokesperson said that at about 1:30 am on Tuesday, 7 January, officers were called to a convenience store on the Princes Highway in Corrimal.

“On arrival, officers attached to Wollongong Police District were told a man allegedly armed with a knife entered the store and demanded money,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.

“He left the scene a short time later with an amount of cash.

“There were no reports of injury.

“Following inquiries, about 2 pm the same day, police attended a residence in Murray Rd, Corrimal, where a 33-year-old man was arrested.”

The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court today (8 January).
