Police are asking for the public to help locate a man missing from the Illawarra.

A NSW Police spokesperson said Asher Stanford, aged 34, was last in contact with family members via SMS about 8 am last Thursday (28 August).

“When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were notified and commenced enquiries into his whereabouts,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.

“Police and family hold concerns for Asher’s welfare.”

Asher is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170 cm tall, with a medium build and blonde hair. What he was wearing is unknown.

A police spokesperson said he may have been in the Wollongong CBD about 9:50 am on Sunday (31 August), and he may be sleeping rough.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Lake Illawarra Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
