Police are calling for public assistance in the search for a missing girl from Balgownie.

13-year-old Rubie Hayton was last seen on Tucker Avenue in Corrimal on Monday 12 January and was last spoken to on the phone at about 1 pm on Tuesday 13 January.

She has not been seen or heard from since.

Wollongong Police were notified with officers commencing inquiries into her whereabouts.

Rubie is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165cm tall, of thin build, with dyed brown hair and a nose piercing.

She is known to frequent Wollongong and the greater Illawarra areas.

Family and police hold concerns for Rubie’s welfare due to her young age.

Anyone with any information into her whereabouts is urged to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

The public is reminded not to report information via the NSW Police social media pages.
