A 22-year-old man was arrested at Sydney Airport yesterday as part of an ongoing drug supply investigation in the Illawarra.
The man is the eighth person to be charged with allegedly supplying drugs in the region, and faces charges of supplying a prohibited drug in quantities greater than or equal to commercial quantities and recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime.
His airport arrest came after detectives attached to Lake Illawarra Police District established Strike Force Yetna in October 2025 to investigate the alleged supply of prohibited drugs by criminal networks in the Illawarra.
At about 7:50 am on Thursday 22 January 2026 police executed a search warrant at a home on Farmborough Road, Farmborough Heights. Police seized cocaine, $14,500 cash and a notebook which police will allege in court was a drug ledger.
The homeowner was not at home at the time.
On the same day, police executed search warrants at seven other locations across the Lake Illawarra Police District, resulting in the arrest and charge of six people, who remain before the courts.
On Friday 30 January, a seventh person was arrested and charged and remains before the courts.
The 22-year-old man was taken to Mascot police station after his arrest on Sunday (8 February).
He was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 7 on Monday (9 February).
