Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a Wollongong man over alleged child abuse offences under Strike Force Glandore.
Strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Kanahooka about 8:30 am on Tuesday (5 August).
A NSW Police spokesperson said that during the search electronic devices allegedly containing child abuse material were seized for forensic examination.
The occupant, a 35-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with using a carriage service to access child abuse material.
“The man’s firearm licence was suspended and registered firearms seized,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
He appeared at a bail division court on Wednesday 6 August, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on 1 October.
Strike Force Glandore was established by State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad Child Internet Exploitation Unit CIEU to investigate the online distribution, supply and access of child abuse material.
Anyone with information that may assist investigations into the distribution of child abuse material is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or online.
