If you’re planning on driving on the M1 Princes Motorway or Picton Road after 8 pm on Sunday (3 May), you’ll have to find another route.

Both roads will be closed to all traffic for maintenance and ongoing work on the Mt Ousley Interchange.

The motorway will be closed from 8 pm to 4 am between Bulli Tops and Memorial Drive. Picton Road will be closed between the motorway and Almond Street, Wilton.

Picton Road eastbound will be closed from 7:30 pm to ensure the motorway is clear by 8 pm.

A second night closure of both roads is scheduled for Sunday, 16 May (weather permitting).

Maintenance work will include road repair and resurfacing, vegetation maintenance, clearing gutters and drains, maintenance of safety barriers and litter collection.

Work on the Mt Ousley Interchange will also be carried out, including removing and installing temporary barriers, repairing, relocating and installing signage, closed circuit television (CCTV) work, earthworks, road surface work, line marking and drainage work.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and Bulli Tops will be detoured via Memorial Drive and Bulli Pass and should allow an additional 15 minutes travel time.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and the Hume Motorway will be detoured via Memorial Drive, Bulli Pass and Appin Road and should allow up to 40 minutes additional travel time.

Light vehicles can also use Wilton Road (Broughton Pass) between Appin and Picton roads.

Heavy vehicles over 19 metres long and weighing more than 50.5 tonnes will not be able to access Bulli Pass and are advised to delay their journey or they will be parked until the roads reopen.
