M1 Motorway, Picton Road to close for night maintenance work

The M1 Princes Motorway and Picton Road will be closed to all traffic on Sunday 23 February for maintenance and ongoing work on the Mt Ousley Interchange.

The roads will also close on Sunday 9 March, weather permitting.

On both nights, the motorway will be closed between 8 pm and 4 am between Bulli Tops and Memorial Drive and Picton Road will be closed between the motorway and Almond Street, Wilton.

Picton Road eastbound will be closed from 7:30 pm to 4 am to ensure the motorway is clear by 8 pm.

Maintenance work will include road repair and resurfacing, vegetation maintenance, clearing gutters and drains, maintenance of safety barriers and litter collection.

The Mt Ousley Interchange project team will carry out work including utility and survey investigations, pavement work, line marking, installing temporary barriers and signs, removing guardrail and constructing site access gates, excavating material and vegetation maintenance.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and Bulli Tops will be detoured via Memorial Drive and Bulli Pass and should allow an additional 15 minutes travel time.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and the Hume Motorway will be detoured via Memorial Drive, Bulli Pass and Appin Road and should allow up to 40 minutes additional travel time.

Light vehicles can also use Wilton Road (Broughton Pass) between Appin and Picton roads.

Heavy vehicles over 19 metres long and weighing more than 50.5 tonnes will not be able to access Bulli Pass and are advised to delay their journey or they will be parked.
