The speed limit on a number of Bulli streets around the town centre will be reduced to 30 km/h from Tuesday 19 August.
The introduction of a permanent 30 km/h speed limit on Park Road, Station Street, Railway Street, Bank Street and Veigals Lane is part of wider traffic changes to help ease congestion and improve safety and access in the centre.
Heathcote MP Maryanne Stuart said the work would go a long way to improving the flow of traffic and making it easier for the community to park, walk and access shops and services.
“We know the community values safety and connectivity in this part of town, which is why we have reduced the speed limit on Station Street, provided additional parking spaces and added two pedestrian crossings, giving safe and easy access to nearby shops and services,” she said.
“We thank the community for its advocacy, and its patience while this important work is being carried out.”
A right-turn arrow will be installed from the Princes Highway into Park Road and no right turn will be allowed from the highway into Station Street.
Traffic exiting Station Street onto the highway will only be allowed to turn left.
A pedestrian crossing and shared path will be built on Railway Street, as well as a new pedestrian crossing on Park Road.

In coming months more parking will be added along Station Street.
According to Transport for NSW, changes to parking will include:
- removing on-street parking on the southern side of Park Road between Princes Highway and Railway Street
- installing 90-degree parking bays on the eastern side of Railway Street and removing on-street parking on the western side
- increasing parking spaces in Bulli Station carpark and allowing for two-way access
- reinstating accessible parking in the station carpark
- relocating taxi bays to the corner of Station and Railway streets
- installing parallel parking bays on the northern side of Station Street.
In a notification to the community, Transport for NSW said once all work was complete, extended clearway hours would be introduced along the highway to help ease congestion on weekday morning and afternoon peaks, as well as southbound clearways on Saturdays.
Work will start on Monday 18 August with upgrades to the existing traffic lights. The work will take place over four nights between 8 pm and 4 am, weather permitting.
Traffic lights will be turned off during this time, with traffic controllers managing vehicle movements.
Day work will start from Monday 25 August, between 7 am and 5 pm for about five weeks.
Motorists are advised that changed traffic conditions will be in place during the works, including single lane closures and a temporary reduced speed limit of 40 km/h.
