A man has been charged following a house fire in Thirroul earlier this month.
A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were called to a home on Palmyra Avenue, Thirroul, at about 6:40 pm on Thursday 4 September, following reports of a fire.
“Officers attached to Wollongong Police District arrived to find the house well alight before Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“Police arrested a 49-year-old man before taking him to Wollongong Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.”
A crime scene was established and police began investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
At about 2 pm on Tuesday 9 September the 49-year-old man was discharged from hospital and taken to Wollongong Police Station.
He was charged with damage property by fire to an expense of more than $15000 (domestic violence) and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 3 on Wednesday 10 September.
