A man will face court after an alleged assault at a Keira Street venue on Friday (30 August).
A NSW Police spokesperson said they were called to the licensed venue in Wollongong just after 1:50 pm on Friday, following reports of an alleged assault.
“On arrival, officers attached to Wollongong Police District spoke to employees at the venue and were told a man was allegedly stabbed by another man,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“Both men left the scene before police arrived.
“A crime scene was established, and an investigation into the incident commenced.
“Following inquiries, at about 3:40 pm on the same day, officers attended an address in Mangerton and spoke to a 31-year-old man with a stab wound in his finger.
“He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
“Police seized clothing which will undergo forensic examination.”
At about 11:30 pm on Saturday (31 August), officers attached to Wollongong Police District, with assistance from Lake Illawarra Police District, arrested a 56-year-old man at a licensed venue on Central Road, Unanderra.
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and four counts of common assault.
He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court to reappear at the same court today (2 September).
