Man dies in four-car crash on Memorial Drive, Towradgi

A man aged in his 70s has died after a multi-vehicle crash on Memorial Drive at Towradgi.

NSW Police said emergency services were called to the scene at about 3:20 pm on Thursday (17 October), in response to a four-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male driver of one of the vehicles but he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 70s.

The male drivers of the other vehicles, aged 18, 35 and 65, were uninjured.

They were taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing.

Major traffic delays are being experienced and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Police are diverting traffic onto Railway Street then onto Princes Highway and warn Memorial Drive may be closed for some time.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Anyone with information about the crash, or who may have dashcam/mobile phone footage, is asked to contact Wollongong Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
