Motorcyclist dies after police chase in Jamberoo

A motorcyclist has died following a police pursuit in Jamberoo.

About 3:35 pm on Sunday (6 October), police were patrolling the Jamberoo area when they attempted to stop the rider for a random breath test.

A NSW Police spokesperson said police started a pursuit when the rider failed to stop, but it ended a short time later due to safety concerns.

Soon after, police found the motorcyclist crashed on Jamberoo Road.

Police attempted first aid before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, but the rider died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A critical incident team from Wollongong Police District will investigate the circumstances of the incident and an independent review will also be held.
