UPDATED: 6 March, 4:21 pm: The planned full-night closures of the M1 Princes Motorway and Picton Road on 15, 16 and 18 March have been pushed back to 22, 23 and 25 March. The second lot of three night closures are planned for 29, 30 March and 1 April (weather permitting).
Motorists who use the commuter carpark on Mt Ousley Road will need to park elsewhere until the completion of the interchange in late 2027.
The carpark has been closed since early February, ahead of planned work on Mt Ousley Road between the M1 Princes Motorway and Gaynor Avenue.
The work, which involved the closure of that section of the road, has been postponed four times due to poor weather. No new dates have been set for the work.
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has now advised the existing commuter carpark accessed from Mt Ousley Road will be permanently closed as the next stage of work for the interchange progresses.
“A new commuter carpark will be built on the western side of the interchange,” says TfNSW’s latest community update.
“The new carpark will have 67 spaces, including two accessible spaces and is expected to be open in late 2027, weather permitting.
“More information about the new commuter carpark will be provided closer to its opening.”
Meanwhile, multiple full road night closures of the motorway from Bulli Pass to Memorial Drive and Picton Road between the motorway and Almond Street at Wilton are planned for mid to late March.
The roads will be closed (weather permitting) between 8 pm and 4 am on:
- Sunday 15 March, Monday 16 March and Wednesday 18 March
- Sunday 22 March, Monday 23 March and Wednesday 25 March.

Should the closures not go ahead due to weather, they will be rescheduled for the following weeks.
Light and heavy vehicles less than 19 m long and under 50.5 tonnes travelling between Wollongong and Bulli Tops can detour via Memorial Drive and Bulli Pass, however heavy vehicles will not be able to access Bulli Pass and are advised to delay their journey or they will be parked.
TfNSW says March will be a busy time for work on the interchange.
Work will include removing part of the existing median island on the motorway, as well as ongoing work on retaining walls and bridge structures, the new heavy vehicle safety ramp and the noise wall next to Dumfries Avenue.
Landscape preparation work on Dumfries Avenue will be carried out, as well as paving and linemarking on the motorway and Mt Ousley Road, pruning, removing and mulching vegetation and construction including excavating material, earthworks and ground stabilisation on Mt Ousley Road for future road bridges over the motorway.
During work, changed traffic conditions will at times include lane and road closures and reduced 60 km/h speed limits on the motorway, Mt Ousley Road and Dumfries Avenue.
