Kiama residents – here’s your chance to get in the ear of the NSW Premier and the state’s senior ministers.

The Premier’s first Community Cabinet meeting for 2026 will be held in Kiama on Tuesday 19 May and residents have been invited to register to attend.

Residents will have an opportunity to take part in a Q&A session during which they may be able to ask the Premier and Cabinet ministers questions about topics or issues that are important to them and their community.

It will be the first time Kiama has hosted the forum.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said taking the Cabinet to Kiama was the best way to hear directly from locals about what is important to them right now.

“These forums are a chance for myself and my team to have open and honest conversations with residents, business owners, sports clubs and volunteer groups,” he said.

Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald has joined the Premier in encouraging residents, community groups and business owners to register for the meeting at The Pavilion.

“This is a welcome opportunity for our community to discuss key priorities for the state with the Premier and the Cabinet ministers,” Cr McDonald said.

“If you have ideas on how the NSW Government can help support our region, register to attend so your voice can be heard.”

Cr McDonald, Deputy Mayor Melissa Matters, CEO Jane Stroud and a number of councillors are set to meet with NSW Planning Minister Paul Scully, NSW Local Government Minister Ron Hoenig and Water Minister Rose Jackson during the visit.

“We’ve had ongoing meetings with Cabinet ministers about what needs to be done to support our area,” Cr McDonald said.

“We look forward to taking this opportunity to speak with them on key issues such as council’s financial sustainability and the Performance Improvement Order, planning and housing, our Employment Lands Strategy and the Bombo Water Treatment Plant.”

Member for Kiama Katelin McInerney said the forum was a chance for locals to let the NSW Government know what’s important to them.

“I am proud to be part of a team that recognises the importance of being accessible to regional constituents and that brings our decision-makers out to communities to genuinely consult and hear firsthand what our priorities are and what further investment will need in the future,” she said.

Registration for the Community Cabinet meeting is free and closes on Friday 15 May. Click here to register, or phone 02 9228 5188.
