An Oak Flats man will face court after being charged with multiple domestic violence offences, including kidnapping.
A NSW Police spokesperson said that just after 2 pm on Tuesday (5 August), a 32-year-old woman attended Lake Illawarra Police Station to report an alleged domestic violence offence.
“Police were told a 34-year-old man – who is known to her – allegedly detained her at a home on The Esplanade, Oak Flats where she was allegedly assaulted by him,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“The woman was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for further treatment of her injuries.”
Police began an investigation and following inquiries, at about 1:30 pm on Wednesday (6 August) police arrested the 34-year-old man at a home on Esplanade, Oak Flats.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with take or detain person with intent to obtain advantage (domestic violence), common assault (domestic violence), kidnap with intent to commit serious indictable offence occasion aggravated bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence), and stalk or intimidate with the intent to cause fear of harm (domestic).
The man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court on Thursday (7 August).
