An unlicensed man has been charged after he returned two positive roadside breath tests in one day.
A NSW Police spokesperson said police were notified of a damaged SUV being driven in Jamberoo about 1:25 pm on Sunday (20 July).
A short time later, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol Command found the vehicle in a car park at Kevin Walsh Oval in Churchill Street, Jamberoo.
“Police subjected the 67-year-old driver to a roadside breath test, where he allegedly returned a positive reading,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“He was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.351.
“The man was charged with high-range PCA, and driving a motor vehicle while his licence was suspended. The man was released on conditional bail.”
The NSW Police spokesperson said at about 8 pm the same day, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were contacted by a member of the public.
The person reported concerns about the driver of an SUV who was attempting a three-point turn in the car park at the Kevin Walsh Oval.
The NSW Police spokesperson said officers arrived and found the same 67-year-old man behind the wheel of the SUV.
“He was breath tested, allegedly returning a positive reading,” the spokesperson said.
“He was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.267.
“He was charged with another charge of high-range PCA, driving a motor vehicle while his licence was suspended and breach of bail.”
The man was refused bail to appear in bail court on Monday (21 July).
