Police are asking the public for information after an alleged assault and robbery in Warilla in March.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the incident occurred at about 11 pm on Friday 28 March.
“A man was walking at the intersection of Queen Street and Shellharbour Road, Warilla, before he was allegedly assaulted and knocked to the ground by two people, before they stole a mobile phone,” she said.
“Members of the public stopped and the two people fled on foot.
“The 61-year-old man returned to his home nearby and contacted police.
“Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police Station responded and transported the man to Shellharbour Hospital, where he was treated for facial injuries.”
A crime scene was established and an investigation began.
Following inquiries, police have released images of a man and woman who were seen near the location.
Police believe the couple can assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged between 25 and 35 years old, with a medium to heavy build and dark hair.
He was last seen wearing a black hat, blue T-shirt, red shorts and black and white joggers.
The woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged between 25 and 35 years old, with a thin build and long brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a grey singlet, black full-length leggings and white joggers.
Anyone with information, or CCTV is urged to come forward and contact Lake Illawarra Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
