Police are asking for information after a suspicious house fire in the Illawarra earlier this year.

A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were called to a property on Fisher Street in Oak Flats at about 2:30 am on Wednesday, 12 February 2025.

There were reports of a fire in the backyard of the home.

“The 39-year-old man inside the home managed to extinguish a fire at the rear of the property before he noticed a second fire near the electricity box at the front of the house,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.

“Fire and Rescue responded and extinguished the second blaze. No one was injured.

“The fires are being treated as suspicious.”

As inquiries continue, police have released a CCTV image of a vehicle seen in the vicinity of the fire.

The NSW Police spokesperson said they believe the driver may be able to assist with the investigation.

The vehicle is described as a white utility with black or grey roof racks.

Anyone with information, CCTV, and or dashcam vision is urged to come forward and contact Lake Illawarra Police Station or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
