Police officer charged with shoplifting from Berry store

A police officer has been charged with a stealing offence on the south coast.

A NSW Police spokesperson said that on 7 July, officers attached to South Coast Police District began an investigation into an alleged shoplifting incident on Queen Street, Berry.

“Following inquiries, on Thursday 15 August a 51-year-old constable attached to a specialist command was issued a court attendance notice for shoplifting value less than or equal to $2000,” the spokesperson said.

“He will appear at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 24 September 2024.

“The officer’s employment status is under review.”

NSW Police have not identified the shop the officer allegedly stole from, or what items were allegedly stolen.
