The driver of a car stolen from Queensland allegedly led police on a chase from Koonawarra to Unanderra on Tuesday (23 July).

Police attached to the Southern Operation Support Group were patrolling in Koonawarra about 3 pm on Tuesday when they spotted a white van on Gilba Road, believed to be stolen from Gold Coast airport.

A pursuit was initiated, continuing along Lakeside Drive and Fowlers Road before it was terminated due to safety concerns.

A spokesman said police received reports soon afterwards that the van had struck a boat parked on Cordeaux Road at Figtree and then a car on Central Avenue, Unanderra, before driving off. No-one was injured.

POL Air, Lake Illawarra Proactive Crime Team, Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol and Raptor Highway Patrol joined the search, however the car couldn’t be located.

Police are appealing for anyone with mobile phone footage or information about a white Mitsubishi Express with Queensland number plates 547GE3 to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
