UPDATED 13 JANUARY, 3:55 PM: NSW Police have discovered the identity of a man seriously injured in an e-bike crash at Lake Heights. They have not released the 28-year-old’s name, but say he remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Police are appealing for information from the public after a man was injured following an e-bike crash in Lake Heights on Sunday (12 January).
A NSW Police spokesperson said that at about 2:30 pm, emergency services were called to Weringa Avenue, Lake Heights, following reports that a man had fallen from an e-bike.
“On arrival, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District found a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, with serious head injuries,” the NSW Police spokesperson said.
“The rider was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being flown to hospital in a critical condition, where he remains.
“The man is yet to be formally identified.
“A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced with the assistance of the Crash Investigation Unit.”
The man was described as being of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, aged between 25 and 35 years old, about 175 cm tall, of large build, and unshaven with short, neat hair.
At the time of the crash, the rider was wearing a black “Nike” jacket and a red t-shirt.
As inquiries continue, police have released a picture of the bike and would like to speak to anyone with information or who can assist police with identifying the man to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via their website.
