Meet our loveable Pets of the Week looking for their forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter.

Cat of the week: Bunny

Some bunnies hop but this Bunny purrs and is eager to leap right into your heart!

Bunny is a one-year-old domestic short hair looking to find her forever home.

She is searching for a home where she can enjoy a comfortable life indoors with a family of her own.

While she can be a little shy at first, Bunny quickly warms up to patient, kind-hearted people who understand that earning a cat’s trust can take time.

Once she feels safe, however, she rewards the gentleness of those she trusts by happily soaking up any attention and physical affection you’re willing to provide.

Bunny is curious and playful without being overly demanding.

With no known issues around respectful, quiet children, Bunny would thrive in a home that can offer her consistency and gentle affection. In return, she promises to bring a sense of unwavering companionship to everyday life.

Dog of the week: Hugo

Meet Hugo, a Jack Russell terrier with a clever mind, a loyal heart and all the classic terrier charm to match.

Currently awaiting adoption with an RSPCA NSW foster carer, Hugo is searching for a breed-savvy home that can offer him the structure and consistency he’s always dreamed of.

At only two years old, Hugo is bright and energetic. He thrives when he has a routine that allows him to fit in short bursts of fun, exploration and enrichment throughout the day.

Don’t let his love for playtime fool you, however, there’s nothing Hugo loves more than lazing around with his favourite humans.

Given proper guidance and a predictable environment, Hugo is sure to be a devoted canine companion. He would do best with an experienced carer who understands the more unique aspects of his breed, someone who can confidently support him with clear boundaries and a routine.

A secure outdoor space is also essential for him, whether that’s a secure, enclosed backyard or a safe outdoor enclosure where he can safely enjoy fresh air and exploration.

Huge can be a bit selective about befriending other dogs. He prefers quieter social settings over busy off-leash parks and would like to avoid sharing his living space with any pets who aren’t dogs.

As Hugo is currently in foster care, prospective pet parents are encouraged to contact the RSPCA NSW Illawarra Shelter or submit an online form to express their interest in adoption.

Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Road, Unanderra and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 02 4271 3410.

These previous RSPCA Illawarra pets of the week have found their furever homes: Armani, Coco, Chanel, Shadow, Lukey, Rose, Zephyr, Chino and Pamela.
