Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter
Dog of the week: Mick
Meet Mick!
Mick is a shy but enthusiastic, one-year-old American bulldog cross with a heart full of potential, just waiting to begin his life in his forever home.
Mick would thrive with experienced owners who have plenty of patience and can understand his doggy body language, and recognise when he might need a little break.
Mick is looking for a family where he can be a true part of the pack, enjoying daily walks once he’s settled in, and coming inside to get comfy on a soft bed by your feet in the evening.
Mick would do best in a home with children over 12 years old who are confident around dogs.
He’s still working on controlling his excitement, so a calm, understanding environment is ideal.
While he may be shy at first, Mick warms up quickly with a little time and patience, and once he does, you’ll see his incredibly sweet and loyal nature shine through!
Bulldogs like Mick are known for their affectionate and laid-back nature, making them fantastic family pets.
Despite their sturdy appearance, they are gentle souls who love to snuggle, relax, and be part of the family.
They are loyal, calm, and excellent companions, particularly for families who appreciate their unique charm.
Mick is eager to learn more about the big world, and with ongoing training, will continue to grow into the best version of himself.
Mick enjoys his daily brain training, like interactive feeders and enrichment activities, which keep his mind and body active.
He’s also a fan of tasty treats hidden in his toys. Like most hungry boys, treats are his kryptonite!
If you already have a dog at home, a meet-and-greet would be a great idea to see if they’ll be the best of friends with this beautiful boy. Mick gets along well with other dogs that share his playful and exuberant nature, and would do well with a fur-sibling that matches his energy.
Thanks to a generous donor, Mick (along with all the other dogs at the RSPCA) is currently available for adoption for no fee.
He will also come home with a starter doggy pack, including a 12-month vet voucher.
Cat of the week: Hontas
Hontas is a sweet eight-year-old cat who can’t wait for the perfect family to live out the rest of her life with.
Hontas is a gentle, resilient girl who came to the shelter through no fault of her own.
Although she’s a senior lady, Hontas still has plenty of energy and a playful side that shines through.
Once she knows she can trust you, she’s incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than to receive some pats and head bunts.
Hontas enjoys both social time and quiet moments to herself, making her the perfect feline friend ever.
She’s best suited to a home with children over 12 who can understand and respect her independence as an older girl and let her come and go for cuddles as she pleases.
Hontas would prefer to be the only cat in the household, as she has previously come from a busy environment with lots of other animals.
A nice calm home where she can have her own space and all the love to herself would suit her nicely.
This affectionate girl isn’t looking for much, just a peaceful place to live with owners she can give all her love to.
Previous Cat of the Week, Delilah, has gone to her forever home. Best buns Harvey and Norman were adopted together. Dog of the Week Ryah is still looking for her forever home.
