Meet our loveable Pets of the Week looking for their forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter.
Dog of the week: Feather
Meet Feather!
Feather is a gentle six-year-old German shepherd eager to find where she belongs.
Since she arrived in the care of RSPCA NSW, Feather has been learning that the world can be a safe and kind place.
She didn’t have the easiest start in life, which is why she can be naturally timid, particularly around new people or unfamiliar situations.
Behind her cautious exterior is a deeply loyal dog simply waiting for her person.
With patience, reassurance, and the space to socialise at her own pace, Feather is sure to blossom into your perfect furry friend.
Feather is intelligent and observant, but often barks when something feels unfamiliar, which is why she’s looking for someone she can look to for comfort and direction.
She would thrive in a predictable environment among a family with steady routines.
She is very well toilet trained and wonderfully polite, content to enjoy the simple comfort of a quiet daily routine.
Feather is searching for patient carers who can appreciate the beauty in earning her trust.
For the lucky dog lover willing to get to know her, the reward will be extraordinary: unwavering loyalty, affection, and an irreplaceable bond built on mutual respect and care.
If you’re looking to nurture a one-of-a-kind bond, Feather might just be the canine companion you’ve been waiting for.

Cat of the week: Shadow
Meet Shadow!
Shadow is a three-year-old Maine Coon cross looking for a sunny spot and forever home she can truly call her own.
Shadow once enjoyed a stable, loving home, but found herself turning to RSPCA NSW for help.
At three years old, Shadow is a well-trained, experienced pet but needs a peaceful home for her calm and affectionate nature to truly shine.
As one of nature’s more balanced, patient cats, Shadow isn’t the biggest fan of chaos, loud spaces, and constant commotion.
Instead, she treasures routine, cozy nap spots, and reassuring scratches from those she trusts.
Shadow understands how to share space and respect others’ boundaries, so she may be open to living with another well-mannered cat.
A home with experienced cat carers who understand feline body language will help her feel secure once she has moved into a new home.
Once she gets to know you, Shadow’s loving personality comes to life. So why not visit her at the shelter and find out if you’re her purr-fect match?
