Meet our loveable Pets of the Week looking for their forever homes while at the RSPCA Illawarra Shelter.

Cat of the week: Gingy

Gingy is an adorable orange bundle of cuddles, loyalty and love looking to find the forever family he’s always dreamed of.

Some cats burst into a room demanding attention, but Gingy just quietly works his way into your heart.

The one-year-old may need more time than most to settle into new surroundings, but those willing to show patience and gentle reassurance quickly earn his trust, as he thrives in the company of anyone who understands that confidence can take time to grow.

Gentle by nature, Gingy responds well to soft voices, steady routines and kind encouragement, which all help him feel safe as he adjusts to new spaces and faces.

He loves the simple comforts only family life can provide: curling up in sunny spots, finding every cosy corner of the home and quietly keeping his humans company throughout the day.

He enjoys affection on his own terms and appreciates having the space to observe before settling in for gentle pats and cuddles.

Rabbits of the week: Nandi and Tinkerbell

One-year-old bonded pair Nandi and Tinkerbell are searching for a loving home where they can continue life side-by-side.

At first glance, these adorable little rabbits couldn’t look more different. Nandi is a curious warm brown bunny while Tinkerbell’s soft grey-and-white coat gives her the appearance of a hopping huggable cloud. But it quickly becomes apparent just how inseparable these two bonded bunnies are.

Whether they’re exploring unfamiliar surroundings, sharing toys, or relaxing after a busy day of hopping and snacking, Nandi and Tinkerbell couldn’t dream of ever living apart.

Both rabbits have calm, affectionate temperaments and would thrive in homes with steady routines.

Fresh hay, crunchy greens, tunnels to explore and enrichment activities are all they need to feel pampered and entertained.

This means they’re looking for a family willing to give them enough secure space to hop, sniff, snack and stretch their legs, with the hope that they can give those who care for them plenty of love and affection in return.

While rabbits can sometimes be overlooked, pairs like Nandi and Tinkerbell show just how rewarding rabbit companions can be. Intelligent, cute and full of personality, they form lasting bonds with each other, but also with the people who love them most.

Visit the RSPCA at 54 Industrial Road, Unanderra and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it! Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. Call 02 4271 3410.
